Q: What happens if sale deed is not registered?
A: An unregistered sale deed does not give legal title. The buyer cannot be said to be legal owner. The document is inadmissible as evidence of transfer. Registration is mandatory under Section 17 of Registration Act.
Q: What documents are required for property registration?
A: Sale deed on appropriate stamp paper, identity proof of buyer and seller, property tax receipts, NOC if required, two witnesses, and payment of registration fee (1% of consideration or market value, whichever higher).
